1st port – Oslo, Norway

We spent the day in Oslo today.

(Jeremy sporting the viking cap)

Kind of bummed at first because the excursion we were supposed to go on (bobsledding in Lillehammer) got cancelled due to lack of participation (apparently we were the only idiots that were gonna try THAT)! So, instead we explored the city on our own. We went to the Noble Peace Museum. Then went up to Holmenkollen where they have this massive, crazy ski jump.

(Ski jump used in the 1994 Olympics)

It was ENORMOUS…as you can see in the picture. Then we went into Frogner Park which is an 80 acre park in the middle of Oslo filled with over 180 sculptures by the artist Gustav Vigeland. It was very picturesque…and also very hot! (Just can’t get away from this heat)!!

(View at the park)

(Beautiful statues)

Had lunch back on the ship and spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool. The sun set at around 10:30 tonight…it’s crazy. Oh, did I mention we both had massages before dinner? Sorry to rub it in!! This time I wont mention the caviar and Dover sole we had for dinner.

It was probably a gift from the Nordic gods that the bobsledding was canceled…sounds dangerous and broken bones don’t make for a very fun vacation. It looks like you had a great time in London, and I liked the European Vacation reference. Speaking of, I heard Obama illegally donwloaded that movie to watch on his European travels as sort of a primer…but thats another story Have fun, be safe!
