Here are some pictures from our first few days in Beijing:
This was from our tour of the hutongs, which are narrow alleys that are located surrounding the houses in China. We all boarded a rickshaw and were driven around while Chinese pedestrians all watched and stared at us like we were visitors from Mars!
This was by one of the lakes we drove by on our rickshaws.
Somebody carting all of our provisions down to the Crystal Symphony
Tian’anmen Square: didn’t see any tanks.
We saw some really cute kids here! Too bad the families can only have one, they were adorable!
Approaching the Forbidden City, the Imperial Palace, built in 1420.
At the Great Wall, about an hour outside of the city, in the mountains.
We are still sore today from climbing!
The Birds Nest, made famous in the Olympics!
The Summer Palace, where we took a lovely boat ride on the lake surrounding this immense palace!
The new CCTV building in Beijing.
