Sawatdee Khrab from Bangkok! – Thats hello in Thai – Day 1

So our Honeymoon journey is in full steam. We began our journey with a stop in LA for the day during our layover to Bangkok. We rented a car and hit all the LA hotspots along the coast.

Here we are on Venice beach grabbing a bite to eat.

During the day we drove though Venice beach, Hermosa Beach, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica and Malibu. It was a nice little mini vacation before heading back to the airport to take off for the 18 hour flight to Bangkok. For all you loyal blog readers, no we did not have any issues with our tickets this time! :-).

So we jumped on board our Thai airways flight and after a long day of traveling through LA. We were both very tired and slept the 1st 1/2 of the flight with no interruptions. The second half seemed to fly by and before we knew it we landed in Bangkok, Thailand @ 5:30am local time.

5:30am Bangkok – City view from room

We headed straight to the hotel, checked in and believe it or not WE headed straight to the gym! Once we were cleaned up it was time to see what Bangkok offered. We took a boat ride to the train station and headed into town. We went to MBK market and Siam square. Fortunately we had some guidance from one of the locals, Alan Dresner, to lead us in the right directions.  Actually, Alan is a good friend of ours who we thank for spending time with us and showing us around Bangkok! While we were in he Siam district we had a great Thai lunch at the largest mall in the Southeast Asia.

Boat ride to train station

After our day of checking our the downtown area, we headed back to the hotel to sit by the pool. We jumped in a pool cabana and the next thing we knew, we had been sleeping for 3.5 hours.  Jet lag was finally catching up.  The next mission was dinner, we went to a restaurant on the 64th floor of the state building (2nd tallest building in Bangkok). The views were unreal.  After dinner we went to an outside bar on the 64th floor. The bar is circular and literally hangs over the edge of the building.  There is a just a thin glass railing around the whole thing. I (Jeremy) must admit my feet got tingly walking around the bar.

After dinner and a couple drinks, We jumped in a cab (which are ridiculously cheap ..a 45 minute ride cost $3. ) and it was off to meet up with Drez at a nightclub called Muse.

At about 1am local time it was time to wrap it up for the day, we jumped back in a cab and headed to the hotel for some much needed sleep.

Day 2 update and video cooming soon!
